Down the street or into the wild, Triple Aught Design seeks to inspire your world explorations and equip you with the gear to get you there—and back again to tell the tale.

Triple Aught Design was founded in 1997 by Patrick Ma. His goal was to inspire people to explore their world by offering the best performing gear available. Patrick discovered his love for the secret beauty of remote terrains while growing up in and exploring the mountains of Pennsylvania, Upstate New York, and California. Challenging marches through rough terrain as a young man in the United States Army gave Patrick a strong appreciation for durable and reliable equipment. He founded Triple Aught Design with a signature focus on combining rigorous functionality with sophisticated design.

At Triple Aught Design, we believe that human presence should not overtake the beauty of the natural world, evidenced by our choice in color palettes and the many environmental groups we support. Our apparel and equipment are meticulously designed to excel under the strenuous demands of the modern explorer, giving you the confidence to focus on the task, not the equipment. We also believe there is no need to sacrifice style in the pursuit of performance; Triple Aught Design’s unique aesthetic is recognized around the globe.

Triple Aught Design is headquartered in the Dogpatch, a historical warehouse and factory district along San Francisco’s eastern waterfront. With the Pacific to our west and the Sierras to our east, we have spectacular landscapes to inspire our designs and rugged wilderness areas in which to use and test our products.
